Transportation Issues

Transportation has dramatic environmental, social and economic impacts. Congestion is rising faster in metropolitan areas building the most highway miles than in those metro areas building the fewest new highway miles. Traffic problems are cited by Boeing and other businesses concerned about future economic viability of the region. Fortunately, we know the problems and the solutions, though we are having trouble implementing them as effectively as have Portland and Vancouver. I will focus on laying out the causes of traffic problems, realistic solutions and actions people can take to help implement solutions.
