"How to" Tips:
Create New Page
Each new page of your web should start with the template.htm
which you will "save as" a page with a new name.
How to "Save As"
-
After you open your web in FrontPage, open template.htm
-
From the top menu bar choose this sequence:
File -> Save As
-
In the box "file name" type the name of the
new page
-
Click OK
-
Begin creating content for your new page
Suggestions for naming pages:
-
If you are converting your existing web to
the template, where possible USE THE SAME FILE NAMES!
-
If you are creating pages for new content,
consider the following:
-
Use all lower case letters
-
Use short names when possible. The web link may be used
in print; shorter is better
-
Avoid using the underscore - it can get lost in
the hyperlink For example:
www.highline.edu/stuserv/edplanning/current_students/current_students.html
-
Do not leave spaces between letters
-
Browsers fill in the space with percent
signs which make the link hard to read or type. For example:
This http://www.highline.edu/wish we
could.htm
becomes http://www.highline.edu/wish%20we%20could.htm -
Sometimes it's not easy to tell if there
is a space or an underscore and it makes a difference if a
users tries to type the web address
