Welcome to the
Travel and Tourism Industry Management
Department website!
Thank you for
your interest in the our program.
Our Mission
The mission of the Highline Community College
Travel and Tourism Industry Management Department is to provide its students with a
high quality education which will enable them to find employment in
their chosen profession and be contributors to our society.
General Information
The air transportation industry and associated
businesses, such as travel agencies and airlines are generally
regarded as having good potential for long-term growth.
Our courses in this field were developed in cooperation with many
types of travel-related businesses and users of air transportation.
The program provides quality education to increase prospects for
employment in these travel-related business fields.
The two programs available -- the Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.)
degree and the Transportation Agent Certificate, require
transportation courses and general education classes providing the
students with necessary technical training, communication,
computational and business skills.
Students also have the opportunity to participate
in a cooperative work experience with travel agencies, tour operators,
etc.
Students should always plan their course of study
-- whether it is a transfer program or the certificate degree--with
the assistance of a faculty advisor. John Lindsay, Coordinator of the
Travel and Tourism Industry Management program, will gladly help prospective
students find the right path in their education.
